Overview

This personal project involved designing an e-commerce platform aimed at gamers, streamers, and tech enthusiasts. As the sole designer, I was responsible for the entire process, from research to UI design, ensuring a user-centered experience. The goal was to create a visually engaging, high-performance shopping platform that caters to a community valuing both style and functionality.

Globally, there are 3.09 billion active video game players—and that number is only getting bigger.

As the gaming and electronics industry continues to grow, I saw a chance to design an e-commerce app that blends stylish, high-performance gear with the needs of gamers and tech enthusiasts. This app was created for a community that values quality, aesthetics, and connection, making the shopping experience feel just as exciting as the gear itself.

The Problem
Current e-commerce apps for gamers make it difficult to connect with the community, compare products side by side, or receive personalized recommendations from their favorite streamers.
The Solution
Design a platform that allowed users to easily compare products and stay connected with the community, all while maintaining a sleek, stylish experience that didn’t compromise on performance.
Research & Discovery

To make sure I got this right, I started with user research to fully understand the needs of gamers, streamers, and tech enthusiasts. The goal was to explore their pain points, preferences, and behaviors when shopping for products online, while also identifying gaps in existing e-commerce platforms. Through competitive analysis, persona development, and a deep dive into industry trends, I gathered valuable insights that informed every design decision and ensured the final product would truly resonate with the target audience.

User Stories

These user stories helped me focus on the needs of different users — from professional streamers to casual gamers or those just browsing — guiding key features and design decisions.

Competitive Analysis

To get a better understanding of the market and industry standards, I conducted competitor research, analyzing major brands like Razer, Elgato, and Turtle Beach. I noticed that many of these big names didn’t have dedicated eCommerce apps, which highlighted an opportunity to create a more convenient shopping experience for gamers and electronics enthusiasts.

User Flow

To define the shopping experience, I created this user flow outlining key interactions and navigation paths. My focus for now was on these essential screens, ensuring a seamless journey from product discovery to checkout.

After completing my research, I used the insights to create these wireframes, focusing on an intuitive layout and seamless user experience for all different types of users.

Final Designs

After several iterations on the wireframes and feedback from experienced designers, these final designs represent the refined solutions for an intuitive and engaging user experience.

Key Design Decisions
Dark mode and a bold color palette create a comfortable yet visually dynamic experience, aligning with industry trends and catering to gamers who prefer darker interfaces for reduced eye strain and glare.
A side-by-side comparison feature allows users to easily evaluate product differences, making it simpler to find the best option based on their needs.
Streamlined the navigation to highlight key product categories, ensuring users can easily find what they need without feeling overwhelmed.
Personalized product suggestions make the experience feel more refined and engaging, encouraging users to engage with the platform on a personal level.
